As I am recalling my school daze 🙂 [pun here] I sure was well equipped with ‘a good forgettory’ as a cartoon from family circle made a cute mock of. But this is not at all true with God. He remembers everything!
But best of all, is what He forgets when He Remembers all!
Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
HE REMEMBERS I NEED SALVATION FROM MY SINFUL WAYS.
Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old.
HE REMEMBERS LOVINGKINDNESS THAT CREATED MERCIFULNESS (ME NOT GETTING THE JUDGEMENT I DESERVE TO GET!)
Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
HE REMEMBERS TO FORGIVE AND FORGET A YOUNG PERSONS TENDENCY TO GRIEVE HIM AND REJECT HIS WAYS THAT LEAD TO A LIFE-EXTENSION NOT TYPICAL OF A SINFUL PAST.
According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.
INSTEAD HE REMEMBERS HIS GOODNESS IN THE WAY HE RESPONDS TO ME NOW THAT I AM OLDER.
Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. (Psalms 25:4-10 NKJV)
I love the Lord for the graciousness He shows all throughout life. That He freely and quickly forgives my proneness ‘to wander’ as the song Come Thou Fount recalls, and then He ‘seals my wandering heart from straying from Thee!’
Praise the Lord for His Fount!
