2 Samuel 7 The God Who Dwelt in an Ark

Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.” Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.”

But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord : “Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle. Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’

Is a God Who Deserves a Spiritual Temple and Kingdom.

These intimately spoken words given to “the man after His own heart” reveal something incredibly precious about the personal nature of God Himself!

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies.

God has a special pre-planned design, apparently, for the eternal state that includes a kingdom nation of people He has chosen to have originated from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or Israel then Moses and David himself. It appears to be coming through that historically despised nation: the Jewish Hebrew people.

Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house. “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

It is to be a house with a character like God Himself and representing an actual literal physical and spiritual Kingdom.

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.

A physical kingdom has the potential for iniquity. But a spiritual one is quite an inspirationally different meditation indeed!

But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ” According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

It certainly inspired David. Incidentally it might be significant also to observe that only the son of Jesse, of all the named of scripture, claimed that special name David! This is a creature of God Himself who understands worship!

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord ; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord God ? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God ; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord God ? Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord God, know Your servant.

For Your word’s sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know them. Therefore You are great, O Lord God .

None is like God! He is unique.

For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

And the nation of Israel is totally unique!

And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name—and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land—before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods? For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, Lord , have become their God. “Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said.

So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel.’

God has, apparently, every intention to make permanent this physical – with spiritual importance – nation of people.

And let the house of Your servant David be established before You. For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’

Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.

There is a blessing promised to this HOUSE that is worth studying!

“And now, O Lord God , You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God , have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”

Glory in Ephesians

What God’s Glory is all about is shown in Ephesians several times. It demonstrates also His Grace as a timed dispensation that speaks Eminence of His Coming!

There are many deep subjects in this book. Study and time are required to get them clear!

Chapter 1

The Glory of His Grace, 1:6

to the praise of the glory of His grace,

by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Is to make us “Accepted in the Beloved.” Our lives should be showing off such glory!

The Praise of His Glory 1:12

that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

Is the Motivation of the Saints to Show His Glory.

To the Praise of His Glory 1:14

who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

He Keeps It as Our Inheritance

Because it is the Proof that

We have Brought Him Glory in our living.

The Father of Glory 1:17

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

The Father’s Portion is to Give A Spiritual Knowledge of Him.

The Glory that is Ours 3:13

It Comes by the Internal Working of His Spirit, 16

that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

Glory in the Church, 20,21

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

He is to be Glorified by His Church, 21

to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

A Dispensation of Grace

Dispensationalism is truly God’s Idea of Dividing Scripture (chapter 3)

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery

(as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ),

which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

Secrets to the Will of God

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

(THE MULTIFACETED PURPOSE OF GOD IN WHICH WE ARE NOT GETTING JUDGED BY HIM is a wonder to meditate upon!)

1. It is Able to be Reasoned. (Ability to think is a Mercy!)

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

2. Transformation Renewal.

A) (Mind Renewal through Meditation is a Mercy!) B) (Proving God’s Will is also a Mercy, because honest humility admits disability to do it without ‘Jesus’ – without Me you can do “nothing!”)

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

3. The God of ALL Grace.

A) (Negative grace here is actually humility thinking grace.) B) (Positive grace here is right[eous] thinking using another mercy: Faith!)

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

4. The Body of Mercies.

A) (Negative body here is to not try to be the whole body.) B) (Positive body here is ability to function as a team – – “individually members of one another.”)

Mystery of A Sinful Jewish People Yet With a Divine Calling

The love of money has driven many of Hebrew origin to become unrighteous globalists. Great atrocities are attributed BY them albeit the same has been done TO them. The human instinct is always retribution and thus we have precedent for the unending world conflicts not to be realized until we see the Psalm 122 prayer for “the peace of Jerusalem” answered completely.

How does one reconcile biblical truth with ugly reality? Three times we’ve been told how: “The Just Shall Live by Faith!”

Romans 11;25ff is the unreasonable truth:

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

GOD ALLOWS BLINDNESS FOR BLESSING.

And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”

Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy.

For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.

NOT OUR THOUGHTS AND NOT OUR WAYS.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

“For who has known the mind of the Lord ? Or who has become His counselor?” “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

How God gets His glory out of man’s wickedness will be a humbling realization not understood until some “secret” [Deuteronomy 29:29] things get revealed. Until then we will live trusting God who knows the end from the beginning as all-wise Father and Sovereign Creator!
